Antiope - Antiope

…The most famous Amazon city is Themyscira in Pontus (the southern coast of the Black Sea), where the hero Hercules visited and killed Queen Hippolyte and took her girdle (the ninth of his twelve labors). The Athenian king Theseus (some say together with Hercules) also invaded the land of the ladies and kidnapped Hippolyte's sister Antiope as his own wife. This led the Amazons to attack Athens, but they were repelled.
