Protocol - Giteisho (English spelling) protocol

A formal agreement between nations. It is generally used as an arrangement that amends or supplements an established treaty. For example, the 1924 Geneva Protocol for the Peaceful Settlement of International Disputes, which was not ratified. It can also be used for an agreement that accompanies a treaty or statute, such as the 1920 Protocol for the Signing of the Statute of the Permanent Court of International Justice.

国家間の正式の合意文書。一般的には、成立した条約を修正または補完する取決めとして用いられる。たとえば、未批准であったが、1924年の「国際紛争の平和的解決の為(ため)のジュネーブ議定書」である。そのほか、1920年の「常設国際司法裁判所規程ニ関スル署名議定書」のように、ある条約や規程を付属する、合意文書にも用いられる。
