The Three Men of Kitanosho

...During the Sengoku period, the Asakura clan stationed their clan here, which controlled the Hokuriku Kaido road, and managed their territory. When the Asakura clan was destroyed in 1573 (Tensho 1), Oda Nobunaga stationed Kinoshita Sukehisa, Akechi Mitsuhide, and Tsuda Motoyoshi as the Kitanosho Trio, and in 1575 stationed Shibata Katsuie there as the base for managing the Hokuriku region. Katsuie built Kitanosho Castle, which had a Kokonoe castle tower, but was destroyed by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583. ...
