...After World War II, he became the greatest director of neorealism alongside Roberto Rossellini with his two films, "Shoeshine" (1947) and "Bicycle Thieves" (1948). All of his representative works, from "The Children Are Watching" (1942) to "The Miracle of Milan" (1950), "Umberto D" (1952), "Terminal Station" (1953), and "Two Women" (1960), were made in collaboration with screenwriter Cesare Sabatini, and it can be said that the "neorealism of everyday life" advocated by Sabatini was formed through his collaboration with De Sica. Born in Sora to a banker's father, his love of theater from childhood led him to join the Tatian Pavlova Theater Company in 1922 and pursue a career as a stage actor. ...
