Japanese: 山東[町] - さんとう

Asago is an old town in Asago County, located in the upper reaches of the Maruyama River in central Hyogo Prefecture. Its main settlement is Yanase, where the San'in Main Line runs. In addition to rice farming, the town raises chickens and dairy cows, and produces seedlings. It has long been known for its Tajima silk and sake brewing, and also engages in textile manufacturing. In April 2005, it merged with Ikuno Town, Wadayama Town, and Asago Town in Asago County to become a city, forming Asago City. Area: 49.16 ^km2 . Population: 6,520 (2003).

Shandong [town] [Santou]

An old town in Sakata County, eastern Shiga Prefecture. The main settlement is Nagaoka, where the Tokaido Main Line passes. In addition to rice farming, forestry is also practiced. Nakasendo (National Route 21) passes through the southern part of the town. Kashiwara is a former post town on the Nakasendo. There are many historical sites, including the Kyogoku family graveyard (historic site). In February 2005, it merged with Ibuki Town and Maibara Town in Sakata County to become a city, Maibara City. ^{53.11 km2} . Population: 13,443 (2003).

兵庫県中部，円山(まるやま)川上流域にある朝来(あさご)郡の旧町。主集落は山陰本線が通じる梁瀬。米作のほか，養鶏，乳牛飼育を行い，苗木を産する。古来但馬(たじま)絹と酒造で知られ，繊維工業も行う。2005年４月朝来郡生野町，和田山町，朝来町と合併し市制，朝来市となる。49.16km²。6520人（2003）。

滋賀県東部，坂田郡の旧町。主集落は東海道本線が通じる長岡。米作のほか林業が行われる。南部に中山道（国道21号線）が通じる。柏原は中山道の旧宿場町。京極家墓所（史跡）など史跡が多い。2005年２月坂田郡伊吹町，米原町と合併し市制，米原市となる。53.11km²。１万3443人（2003）。
