The blue-green rust that forms on the surface of copper or copper alloys is generally called "rokusho." When it is formed in the air, it is a basic copper carbonate of various compositions (CuCO 3 · Cu(OH) 2 , etc.), the same as malachite. When sulfurous acid gas is present in the air, it becomes basic copper sulfate CuSO 4 · 3Cu(OH) 2 , and when exposed to salt, it also becomes copper chloride CuCl 2 or CuCl 2 · 3Cu(OH) 2. Most of them are toxic. It is also used as a blue-green pigment. → Related topics Rust Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
