Meteorological equator

...The central latitude of the equatorial low pressure zone is 5° south in January and 12° to 15° north in July, with an annual average of 5° north. This latitude is sometimes called the meteorological equator. (2) Westerly wind zone The area from the mid-latitude high pressure zone (about 30° latitude) to about 60° latitude is called the westerly wind zone.
