Psychosis caused by organic or morphological changes in the brain (→ exogenous psychosis). Causes include inflammation, trauma, tumors, and degenerative diseases. The main symptoms are a decline in intellectual function and personality changes, mainly dementia due to chronic brain disease. In addition, hallucinations and delusions may be severe, and focal symptoms may appear in the localized area of the brain where the lesion is located.
