In the world of Oÿuil, there were works such as Urbain's Admonitions (13th century) and The Rules of the Table (13th and 15th centuries), which are about a father instructing his son on how to behave in both public and private life, Raoul de Houdin's The Two Wings (first half of the 13th century), which uses the popular allegorical technique to teach the way of elegance by saying that bravery has two wings, humility and good manners, Robert de Haut's The Lessons of Trebor (1192-1240), in which a father instructs his son on etiquette, and others. More elaborate works include Robert de Blois's (13th century) "Art of Rule," which instructed kings and princes in etiquette and moral instruction, and "Admonition to Women," which encouraged virtue in women.
