Other personal collections of poems by Saigyo include Sanka Shinjushu (360 poems), which may have been excerpted from this popular edition, Kokushoshu (263 poems), which does not have a single poem in Sankashu, and Kokusho Zanshu (32 poems), which has only one poem in common. Saigyo became a monk at a young age and spent his life wandering around nature, and there is something remarkable about his simple style of poetry that reveals the deep emotions he felt when he came into contact with things, and his romantic poetry that fully absorbs tradition....
