Tokyo Castle (English: Dong-jing)
An earthen fortress in Ning'an County, Heilongjiang Province, China. It is believed to be the site of Shangjing Longquanfu, one of the five capitals of the Balhae Dynasty. Excavations were carried out by the East Asian Archaeological Society in 1933-34. The inner fortress and temple ruins have been confirmed within the rectangular earthen outer wall measuring 4.5 km east-west and 3.3 km north-south. The inner fortress is located in the center of the northern edge of the outer wall, and within it is the inner inner fortress. The inner inner fortress measures just over 600 m east-west and just over 700 m north-south, and the remains of palaces, corridors, and other buildings have been discovered. Various artifacts have been excavated from the site, including patterned brickwork, green-glazed roof tiles, green-glazed pillar bases, and stone lion heads.
