The smallest of the five Great Lakes in North America. It is 309 km long from east to west, with the border between Canada and the United States passing through the center. The Niagara River flows into the lake from Lake Erie, and the St. Lawrence River flows out of it, forming Niagara Falls. Rochester is on the American side of the lake, and Toronto on the Canadian side. The lake surface is 75 m above sea level. The maximum depth is 244 m.
