Born in the fourth year of the Kanbun era. The eldest son of Kaibara Rakuken. Adopted by his uncle Kaibara Ekiken. Served with Ekiken in the Chikuzen Fukuoka Domain. At the domain's command, assisted Ekiken in compiling "Chikuzen no Kuni Zoku Fudoki." Died on May 23, the 13th year of the Genroku era. Age 37. His pen name was Toshio.
