Born in the 16th year of the Jogan era. He served Emperor Uda even after his abdication. He was a skilled Go player, and is said to have once played a game with the Emperor for a golden pillow. He is also said to have built Miroku-ji Temple in Kyoto. He was born in Fujitsu District, Hizen (Saga Prefecture). His secular name was Tachibana Yoshitoshi.
