… Cold agglutinins usually agglutinate blood cells at temperatures below 10-15°C, but in some patients, even higher temperatures, and in rare cases above 30°C, can be effective. Therefore, when the skin or fingertips of a patient with a high titer of this antibody are exposed to low temperatures, blood cells in the local blood vessels agglutinate, causing circulatory disorders (cold agglutinin disease).
