Plane - Plane

A type of woodworking machine used to finish sawed surfaces. Two to eight plane blades are attached to a shaft and rotated at high speed, and the material is fed against it to process the surface, and the cutting angle of the plane blade, the number of teeth, and the feed speed must be appropriately changed depending on the material being processed. There are various types of planers, including manual planers that create a reference surface, automatic one-, two-, three-, and four-sided planers that determine thickness, and super-finishing planers that use the same cutting mechanism as a manual planer.

鋸(のこ)引きを施した面の仕上げに用いる木材加工用機械の一つ。2～8枚のかんな刃を軸の周囲に取り付けて高速回転させ、それに対して材料を送り込んで面加工を行うもので、加工する材料によって、かんな刃の切削角、刃数、送り速度などを適当に変える必要がある。かんな盤には、基準面をつくる手押しかんな盤、厚みを決める自動一面・二面・三面・四面かんな盤、そして、手かんなの切削機構と同じ様式で仕上げる超仕上げかんな盤などがある。
