"Ichinojo Kaneko"

...A series of works based on Tenpo Rokkasen, a favorite work of the second-generation storyteller Shorin Hakuen. It dramatizes the story of six villains, including Kawachiyama Soshun (Shun), who died in prison in 1823 (Bunsei 6), Naojiro (Nao Samurai), who was implicated with him, Onao, a tea girl from Okuyama, Asakusa, who was familiar with him, Michitose, who later became a prostitute in Yoshiwara, and others, including Kaneko Ichinojo, Morita Seizo, and Kurayami no Ushimatsu. The first of these was Kumonoue no San'e no Sakumae, written by Kawatake Mokuami and performed at the Kawarazakiza Theater in Tokyo in October 1874.
