Japanese: ミスミグサ（英語表記）Elephantopus scaber L.

A perennial plant of the Asteraceae family found in the tropics of the Old World. It is also known as Anemone scaber and Igakouzorina. The African and East Asian varieties are distinguished as subspecies, with the latter being the basic variety ssp. scaber . The stem is erect, 20-80cm tall, and bifurcated. The basal leaves are rosette-shaped and are present when the plant blooms. The stem leaves are few, and the upper ones are smaller. The flowering season is from April to December. The flower is a head consisting of four bisexual tubular florets. Three to four of these heads are densely packed at the ends of the branches, forming a cluster, and are enclosed in three broadly ovate bracts.
