Certificate of Authenticity

The expert witness must report the process and results of the appraisal in writing to the person who ordered or commissioned him/her, and this report is called an expert witness report. Once the expert witness report is submitted, he/she may be questioned about the matters stated in the report at a later court date. There is no specific format for an expert witness report, but it usually consists of a preamble, the method of testing and findings, an explanation, a main text, and an epilogue, and is sealed to represent the expert witness' authority and responsibility.

鑑定人は、鑑定の経過および結果を、その命令者または嘱託者に書面で報告しなければならないが、この報告書を鑑定書という。また鑑定書を提出すると、後日公判期日に、鑑定書に記載した事項について尋問を受けることがある。鑑定書の形式には、とくに定められたものはないが、通常、前文、検査方法および同所見、説明、主文、後書きなどからなっていて、鑑定人の権威と責任から契印を行う。
