...What made Iwahashi Senzuka famous was the unique structure of the horizontal stone chamber, built by stacking crystalline schist flat. Although there are stone shelves protruding from the back wall in other regions, the presence of a stone beam spanning between the left and right side walls is unique. This type of horizontal stone chamber was also used in the relatively large keyhole-shaped tumuli such as Tennozuka Tomb (total length 86m), which occupies the highest part of the hill among Iwahashi Senzuka, Dainichiyama Tomb No. 35 (73m), Otaniyama Tomb No. 22 (63m), and Shogunzuka Tomb (42.5m), which show that it was popular from the end of the 5th century to the first half of the 6th century, which was the heyday of this Senzuka. …岩橋千塚を有名にしたのは，結晶片岩を平積みにして構築した横穴式石室の特異な構造で，奥壁から突出した石棚は他の地方にもあるが，左右両側壁の間に架け渡した石梁の存在は他に類を見ない。この種の横穴式石室は，岩橋千塚のなかで丘陵の最高部を占めた天王塚古墳(全長86m)，大日山35号墳(73m)，大谷山22号墳(63m)，将軍塚古墳(42.5m)などの比較的大型の前方後円墳にも用いているので，5世紀末から6世紀前葉にかけて流行し，それがこの千塚の最盛期であったことを教えている。石室内に残存した須恵器や，墳丘から出土した形象埴輪にも重要なものがある。…
