The Kanze Tetsunojō Family

...During that time, the 15th Kanze (Sakono) Motoakira is famous for carrying out the Meiwa Reforms in 1765 (Meiwa 2), which were a major reform of all aspects of Noh writing and performance (although after his death, the old rules were restored due to the rapidity of the reforms). In 1752 (Horeki 2), Motoakira also had the shogunate recognize the establishment of the Kanze Tetsunojyo family by his younger brother, Oribe Kiyohisa, and was given a status equivalent to that of a head of one of the four schools. When the head of a school has no heir, the family has the status of succeeding him (Oribe Kiyohisa 17th and Oribe Kiyooki 19th were the first and second heads of the Tetsunojyo family), and also serves as guardians for young heads of a school. ...
