"Collection of epitaphs from the Han, Wei and Northern and Southern Dynasties"

Examples of epitaph formats are given by Pan Angxiao of the Yuan Dynasty (Examples of Epigraphy), Wang Xing of the Ming Dynasty (Examples of Grave Inscriptions), and Huang Zongxi of the Qing Dynasty (Examples of Epigraphy). Together, these are known as the "Three Examples of Epigraphy." These works can be found in the collections of their authors, and in recent years, with the development of archaeology, many real examples have been excavated. Most of the examples from before the Northern and Southern Dynasties of China have been collected in Zhao Wanli's "Collection and Commentary on the Tomb Inscriptions of the Han, Wei, and Southern Dynasties" (1956), and the originals excavated from the site can be easily seen in museums all over China. The Japanese examples, except for newly excavated ones, are collected in Kizaki Aikichi's "Great History of Epigraphy in Japan" (1921). ...
