...However, the use of earthenware coffins is widespread in the Brazilian Amazon, Venezuela, Colombia, northwestern Argentina, eastern Bolivia, and northern Chile. The Amazonian Eluria people, like other tribes in the area, use an old canoe cut in two and place one half on top as a lid to make a coffin.
