Prince Kan'in no Miyanorihito

...He was the son of Imperial Prince Kan'innomiya Naohito and the grandson of Emperor Higashiyama. He was the second successor to the same line. In 1743 (Kanpo 3), he was proclaimed Imperial Prince, and the following year he came of age and was appointed Dazai no Sochi, and was called Sochi no Miya. His wife was Princess Nariko, the daughter of Emperor Nakamikado. He was the real father of Emperor Kokaku, and the emperor, following the precedents of Gotakakurain (Prince Morisada) and Gosukoin (Prince Sadanari), wanted to respect his father as a retired emperor, and negotiations between the Imperial Court and the Shogunate began in 1789 (Kansei 1). However, the Shogunate's senior councilor Matsudaira Sadanobu was always opposed, arguing for the legitimacy of the matter, and the proposal never came to fruition. In 1793, the Shogunate punished the Councilor Nakayama Yoshichika and the Military Affairs Councilor Masagimachi Kimiaki, who were involved in the proposal, and the matter came to an end. ...

…閑院宮直仁親王の王子で，東山天皇の皇孫にあたる。同宮第2代を継承。1743年(寛保3)親王宣下，翌年元服して大宰帥に任ぜられ，帥宮とよばれた。妃は中御門天皇の皇女成子内親王。光格天皇の実父にあたり，天皇は後高倉院(守貞親王)，後崇光院(貞成親王)の先例によって父親王を太上天皇として尊崇しようとし，このため89年(寛政1)以来朝幕間で交渉が行われた。しかし幕府では老中松平定信が名分論をとって終始賛成しなかったため，この議は遂に成らず，93年このことに関与した議奏中山愛親，武家伝奏正親町公明が幕府から処罰されて終結をみた。…
