Ephemeral stream

A river that normally has no water. It can be a river with a surface layer made of permeable material, such as a river without water on an alluvial fan, or a river without water due to evaporation and infiltration, such as a wadi or arroyo in the desert. Water flows during floods.

普段は水が流れていない川。扇状地の水無川(みずなしがわ)のように表層が浸透しやすい物質からなる場合と、砂漠のワジwadiやアロヨarroyoのように蒸発と浸透によって末無川(すえなしがわ)になる場合がある。洪水のときには水が流れる。
