Kaito-so - Kaito-no-sho

Japanese:
Kaito-so - Kaito-no-sho
This manor was located in Kaito and Nakajima counties in Owari Province. It is considered to be the area covering the northern part of Jimokuji Town and Miwa Town in Kaifu County, Aichi Prefecture (both of which have been merged to form Ama City), and the southern part of Inazawa City. It consisted of Kaito Kamisho, Kaito Nakasho, and Kaito Shimosho, and was also known as the Kaito Sankasho. Within Kamisho were Matsuba-go, Taizanji-go, and Araya-go. The time and circumstances of the establishment of the manor are unknown. The head family was Rengeo-in in Kyoto, and their rule is confirmed to have continued until the Nanboku-cho period. The position of lord was passed down from Ike no Zenni to Taira no Yorimori, and was once confiscated by Minamoto no Yoritomo, but was returned to Yorimori, and passed from Yorimori to his son Mitsumori, his daughter, and then to the wife of Koga Michitada, becoming the Koga family land, and was passed down in the family thereafter. In 1197, Fujiwara Arinori, a member of the Atsuta Daigūji family, was appointed as the land steward, but after the Jōkyū War, the position was given to Oyama Tomomasa of Shimotsuke, and it is believed that the Oyama clan held the position throughout the Kamakura period. The position of land steward in Nakasho became the property of Shinnyō-ji Temple in Kyoto in 1342, and later became the property of Toji-ji Temple in Kyoto. Furthermore, the Kaito clan site, given to Toki Yorishige by Ashikaga Takauji in 1351, was donated to Tenryū-ji Temple in Kyoto in 1358, and the position of land steward became more and more subdivided after the Nanboku-chō period. The rule of the lord Kuga clan in the area seems to have continued until around the Oei period (1394-1428). From the Kamakura to Muromachi periods, there were repeated disputes between the lords and land stewards over various positions, failure to pay taxes, and administrative duties.
