Born on July 30, 1879. Became a disciple of Honinbo Shuei. After Shuei's death, he competed with Tamura Yasutoshi (Shusai) for the Honinbo title. In 1924, he joined the Nihon Ki-in, but left to form the Kisei-sha. In 1940, he was defeated by Shusai in the inter-institute match. In 1941, he founded the Keiin-sha. He passed away on February 21, 1959, at the age of 79. He was posthumously awarded the honorary rank of 9th dan by the Nihon Ki-in. Born in Tokyo.
