A low hill along the Asuka River in Asuka Village, Nara Prefecture. It is also written as Amakashioka. Amakashi-no-Isama Shrine is located to the west of Mukohara-ji Temple in Toyoura, the same village. Behind the shrine, low hills continue southeast along the Asuka River. The highest point of the hills is currently known as Amakashi-Oka, but considering the existence of Amakashi-no-Isama Shrine, the entire low hills were probably called Amakashioka/Yukiminooka. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Yūryū, a ritual to search for the deities was performed to correct the confusion over surnames. It is known that in 644 (the 3rd year of the reign of Emperor Kōgyoku), Minister Soga no Emishi and his son Iruka established a house alongside that of Amagasaki-oka, and that in March of 659 (the 5th year of the reign of Emperor Saimei), they built Mount Sumeru on the riverbank east of Amagasaki-oka and hosted a feast for the Emishi.
