...var. kirilowii is distributed from the Korean Peninsula to China and the Indochina Peninsula, and is used in the same way as Trichosanthes. There are about 50 species of Trichosanthes in the world, distributed from East Asia to Southeast Asia and Australia. In Japan, there are maple-like trichosanthes, smoky trichosanthes, and giant trichosanthes, for a total of five species.
