Mortonagrion hirosei (discovered in Lake Hinuma, Ibaraki Prefecture in 1971) is a species endemic to Japan, found only in large saline rivers and coastal salt lakes on Honshu. Aciagrion migratum is the only adult overwintering species in this family. Nehalennia speciosa is found only in the marshes of Hokkaido and the Tohoku region and in the Ozegahara Plateau. Agrion lanceolatum and A. ecornulum are northern highland species that are common to eastern Siberia.
