Iowa [State] - Iowa
A rich agricultural state in the Midwestern United States. Abbreviations: Ia, IA. Located on the prairie, it is not mountainous, but consists of a plateau with small undulations. It produces a lot of corn, soybeans, oats, and pasture grass, and livestock farming is also thriving. It became a U.S. territory in 1803 with the Louisiana Purchase. It became a territory in 1838 and joined the Union in 1846. The state capital is Des Moines. Area: 144,669 km2 . Population: 3,107,126 (2014).
