The same disease was reported independently by Italian Giuseppe Flaiani (1741-1808) in 1800, British Caleb H. Parry (1755-1822) in 1825 (posthumously), and Irish Robert J. Graves (1797-1853) in 1835. Depending on the country, it was called Flaiani's disease or Parry's disease, but the international name for the disease is Graves' disease today.
