Kamo no Yakudou - Kamo no Kimi

…The name En no Gyoja was already known to the public at the time the Shoku Nihongi was compiled, but the Nihon Ryōiki, written a little later in the early Heian period, contains a more detailed story about En no Gyoja. According to it, En'upasoku (the editor of Nihon Ryōiki calls upasakusa half-monk, half-lay monk with magical powers) was a descendant of Enokimi Kamo, later Takagamo no Ason, and a native of Kayahara Village, Katsuragikami County, Yamato Province. Born with great learning and wishing to fly through the sky, commune with immortals, and go to the immortal palace, En'upasoku secluded himself in a cave and trained, and as a result, he mastered the magic of Kujaku Myōō and became able to control demons. …
