...However, the global sea level changes seen in the latter half of the Quaternary Period are undoubtedly movements caused by changes in seawater volume, that is, increases and decreases in seawater volume due to the rise and fall of glaciers on Earth. Such sea level changes controlled by the rise and fall of glaciers are called glacial eustasy. If all the glaciers currently covering the land were to melt, the meltwater would return to the ocean, and it is estimated that sea levels would rise by about 50 to 85 meters.
