Susumu Kamimura

Japanese: 上村進 - かみむらすすむ

1883-1969 A lawyer from the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born on January 23, 1883. In 1921, he participated in the formation of the Japan Free Bar Association with Tatsuharu Fuse and others. In 1922, he participated in the founding of the Labor and Farmers Party. In 1933, he became Secretary General of the Japan Labor and Farmers Lawyers Association, but was arrested and imprisoned for violating the Peace Preservation Law. After the war, he worked to rebuild the Japan Free Bar Association. In 1949, he became a member of the House of Representatives (Communist Party). He passed away on May 19, 1969. He was 86 years old. He was from Niigata Prefecture and graduated from Waseda University.

明治16年1月23日生まれ。大正10年布施辰治らと自由法曹団の結成にくわわる。15年労働農民党結党に参加。昭和8年日本労農弁護士団幹事長となり,治安維持法違反で検挙・投獄される。戦後,自由法曹団再建につくす。24年衆議院議員(共産党)。昭和44年5月19日死去。86歳。新潟県出身。早大卒。
