Overdraft

In finance, this refers to a situation where a customer of a current account issues a check that exceeds the current account balance or the maximum overdraft amount set out in the overdraft agreement. It also refers to a situation where a financial institution temporarily pays such a check on behalf of the customer using its own funds (this is called a temporary overdraft or temporary overdraft). 金融用語で，当座預金の取引先が当座預金残高や当座貸越契約の貸越極度額をこえて小切手を振出すこと。また金融機関ではこのような小切手を金融機関の資金で一時立替払いすることをいう (一時当座貸越，一時過振と呼ぶ) 。
