…In particular, in England, about ten English translations of the Bible were published in succession during the 16th century. The main ones were the Protestant versions of the Coverdell Bible (1535), the Great Bible (1539), the Geneva Bible (1560), and the Bishops' Bible (1568), and the only Catholic translation was the Reims-Douai Bible (New Testament 1582, complete translation 1610). The pinnacle of these English translations was the King James Version, published in 1611. …
