...Its English name is Rat Fish or Rabbit Fish because of its face. Three species are popular: Chimaera phantasma, Chimaera phantasma, and Chimaera phantasma. The most common is the Chimaera phantasma (illustration), which is found from Hokkaido to the East China Sea and lives on the bottom of the continental shelf slope at depths of about 90 to 540 meters. Its body is long and laterally compressed, and the tip of its tail fin is long and thread-like.
