Arimoto Hosui - Arimoto Hosui

A pioneer of poetry for children. His real name was Kannosuke. He was born in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture. He graduated from Waseda University and joined Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha, where he wrote poetry while editing the magazine "Nihon Shonen" and other publications. He was not successful with poetry for adults, but his sentimental poetry for children captivated children in the early Taisho period. His poetry collections for children include "Hosui Shishu" (1914), "Ryojin" (1917), and "Furusato" (1918), and his children's novels include "Kaigunkan" (1915) and "Bazoku no Ko" (1916).

少年詩の開拓者。本名歓之助(かんのすけ)。兵庫県姫路に生まれる。早稲田(わせだ)大学を卒業、実業之日本社に入って雑誌『日本少年』その他を編集しながら詩作。成人向けの詩では成功しなかったが感傷的な少年詩で大正初期の子供たちを魅了した。少年詩集に『芳水詩集』（1914）、『旅人(りょじん)』（1917）、『ふる郷(さと)』（1918）、少年小説に『怪軍艦』（1915）、『馬賊(ばぞく)の子』（1916）がある。
