Canasta (English spelling)

Canasta (English spelling)
This card game was invented in Uruguay in the late 1940s and introduced to the United States in 1949. It is played by four players, in pairs facing each other. There are two sets of 52 cards and four jokers, for a total of 108 cards. The goal of the game is to reveal three or more cards of the same number (a meld) and score 5,000 points or more between the two players. Each player is dealt one card so that they have 11 cards in their hand, and the remaining cards are kept face up and one card is turned face up. The points of the meld cards are jokers (50 points), 2 and A (20 points), K to 8 (10 points), 7 to 3 (5 points), and 3s (♡ and ♢) (100 points). The player to the left of the dealer takes the top card of the deck or discard pile and discards any unnecessary cards. To meld, the above points must include at least 50 points. The 3s (♡ and ♢) are played separately. When you have run out of cards in your hand after melds, you win (Rummy). However, to play Rummy, you or your partner must have at least one combination of seven or more cards of the same number in your hand (Canasta). Joker and 2 are universal wild cards, and up to three of these can be used in Canasta (e.g. Q, Q, Q, Q, Q, 2, 2, Joker). If you can use the top card of the discard pile in a meld, you can take the entire pile. When someone plays Rummy, the points for the meld are counted from the points mentioned above, and the points for the cards in their hand are deducted from this. For Canasta, 500 points are added for cards that do not contain wild cards, and 300 points are added for cards that do.
