However, the origins of the sect are ancient, originating from Xu Xun (Jun Xu Zhen) of the Jin Dynasty, passed through Hu Huichao of the Tang Dynasty, and was perfected by Liu Yu in the Yuan Dynasty amid growing faith in Xu Xun. It was subsequently inherited by Huang Yuanji and Xu Yi. The core of its teachings is that one's true heart should be pure and clear, and in practice, one should value loyalty and filial piety.
