A woodcutter in Kurita County, Omi Province. Currently in the southern part of Otsu City. At the end of the 7th century, cypress from Mt. Tagami was floated down the Kizu River via the Seta River and Uji River to be used for the construction of Fujiwara-kyo. The Man'yoshu states, "The cypress of Mt. Tagami, from the robbery of Tankai, floats in the Yasouji River of warriors, like a floating seaweed." Miscellaneous materials and cypress bark from Mt. Tagami were also supplied for the expansion and reconstruction of Ishiyama-dera Temple in 762. The work base was called the Tagamiyama Sakusho, and felling was carried out by two supervisors, two specialist craftsmen, one ironworker, three hired craftsmen, six samasa craftsmen, and ten servants (Shosoin documents). Also, even at that time, there were woodcutters who made craft items such as miscellaneous tableware and hemp chests, and the Tagami wheelworker seen in 1253 is thought to have been a wheel-maker (perhaps a potter's wheel driver). During the Kamakura period, it was the domain of the repair (grinding) office, and during the Nanboku-cho period, it appears as "Maki Nakasho woodcutters" or "Tagami Woodcutters Rokkamura" within Tagami Manor, and was the domain of Jozaikoji Temple in Kyoto, but there was a dispute over the boundaries between the land lord Naraha Mitsukiyo and Asakura Shigekiyo, who was thought to be the land lord of Tagami Maki Manor. The annual tax before the Onin War was 200 koku and 10 kanmon. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
