〘Noun〙 In the Edo period, a person who wore a haori coat, a sword, and a straw hat and stood in front of people's gates, sang sermons and joruri to the accompaniment of a bamboo sash, a shamisen , and a Chinese fiddle, and begged for money. Shomon. ※Haiku poem, Seisho Senku (1648), 4 "How the bamboo sash rustles in the autumn wind. The voice of the gate sermon is heard."
