…Cyril was reluctant to accept the Nicene school's claim that the Father and Son are homoousios (one substance) because it does not appear in the Bible, but he formally accepted it at the Council of Constantinople (381). He was known as an excellent preacher and biblical scholar, and his major work, Catechesis, is a lecture for baptismal candidates on Christian doctrine and liturgy, and is also considered a valuable historical source that shows the actual state of the ancient church. It is doubtful whether the second part of this book was written by Cyril. …
