Kaitei School

...Songjiang is the name of the prefecture of Jiangsu and refers to the area around present-day Shanghai. The Huating school (Huating is the name of a prefecture in Songjiang Prefecture) of Gu Zhengyi was the forerunner, followed by the Su Songjiang school (short for Suzhou Songjiang) of Zhao Zuo 30 to 40 years later, and the Yunjian school (Yunjian is the old name for Huating) of Shen Shichong, a generation younger. Apart from a few founders of each school, the style is a mixture. It is characterized by paintings full of delicate poetry, making it a fitting finale to the Southern School of painting. ...
