Born: February 14, 1864, London Died: August 1, 1926, Midhurst. British Jewish author and journalist. After graduating from the University of London, he worked as a teacher for a time, but then decided to become a journalist and became editor of the Jewish cultural quarterly magazine Ariel. He was interested in the Jewish problem in Britain and Zionism, and participated in a Zionist meeting in Basel. His major works include Bachelor's Club (1891), Children of the Ghetto (92), Ghetto Tragedies (93), and The Mantle of Elijah (1900).
