A multipurpose dam located upstream of the Kinugawa River in Nikko City, northwest of Tochigi Prefecture. It is an arch dam with a height of 117m, a length of 131m, and a usable water storage capacity of 73.1 million m3 . It was completed in 1965. Lake Kawamata and Lake Ikari regulate the water volume of the Kinugawa River and are used for flood prevention and irrigation. It is also home to the Kawamata Power Station, with a maximum output of 27,000 kW.
