…After his release in 1971, he was not allowed to live in Moscow, and in 1973 he was invited to become a lecturer at the University of Paris, where he fled to France. His subsequent works include Voices in the Chorus (1973), a collection of letters he wrote to his wife from the concentration camp, the essays A Walk with Pushkin and In Gogol's Shadow (both 1975), and the story Tsorets the Dwarf (1980). Since 1978, he has co-edited the Russian-language magazine Syntaxis with his wife. …
