Kadazan tribe

The state capital is Kota Kinabalu. The majority of the population are the indigenous Kadazan (Dusun) people (28%), followed by the Chinese (21%) and the Bajau (12%). The Malay population is increasing but still only accounts for 3%. In the 1970s, the number of Muslim refugees from the southern Philippines increased dramatically.
