…He himself started haikai at the age of 15 and became a tensha at the age of 21, but the lineage of his teacher is unclear, and his time as a ritsuki must have been around 1672 (Kanbun 12) when he was 31 years old, when New Year's Day chanting (New Year's Day chants) began to appear.
